AlmightySuspect is a big presence on any beat. That’s a feat considering his production often contains loud crashing drums, deep blown-out bass, and blaring sirens. This tape has the young artist employing the likes of LA powerhouses YikeMike, ArjayOnTheBeat, LowTheGreat and OMG to create a sound that pushes the envelope in terms of aggression and style.
Early on in the tape, Almighty shows us he’s charting new territory with “BigSusTony” with crazy spare but oscillating production from Trixx. Almighty injects some suspense with a gritty, whispering verse that serves to accent the bass on this track. “TwitterMentions” prod. S.prod displays his tendency to make intense, anxious songs that put you on edge. Reverb and distortion color the soundscape of this project as well as the throaty delivery from Almighty. It’d be easy to call this sound “raw,” but that’d undermine the clear deliberative process to all of this. Multiple layers make this interesting and combine into something new.
Notably, this tape has no features. That’s because he’s refining his particular brand of shit-talking and leaves little space for others in a 9-song project. We been knew Almighty has a style that’s grimy but this is taking it to new heights.
